Notes for Goal 5

  • How was baseline established? Only litter campaigns in Washington prior to CLEAN Goal was GAB Clean Sweep and Perdue Clean Stream. GAB Clean Sweep is a one day event in spring where GAB pays non profit groups per pound of trash picked up in designated areas of the city. They started this event in 2012. Perdue held a Project Clean Stream in April of last year to clean up water ways in the city. They collected 726 lbs. of debris. The City of Washington assisted in both events.
  • Progress made and challenges overcome for reporting year 1 (Please include cost savings and efforts to inform the public of your progress.) We participated in Washington's Safety Night Out with a booth about litter issues in Washington. Talked with several participants about what they can do to help clean up Washington.
Working with Mayor on one Saturday a month litter clean-up campaign.
  • Progress made and challenges overcome for reporting year 2 (Please include cost savings and efforts to inform the public of your progress.) Worked with Washington Arts and Flowers Garden Club on an anti-litter campaign. Name: Washington Team Up to Clean Up. Kick off schedule for 2015. Will be an ongoing once a month clean up. Worked again with Perdue and German American Bank on Project Clean Stream and Clean Sweep programs. Information given at Earth Day event, UMW club meeting, Public meeting about Team Up and Pastorial meeting.
  • Progress made and challenges overcome for reporting year 3 (Please include cost savings and efforts to inform the public of your progress.)
