CITY OF WASHINGTON DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT PROJECT GROUND BREAKING
For Immediate Release: June 16, 2010
Mayor Larry Haag would like to announce that the City of Washington is hosting a Ground Breaking Ceremony to kickoff the Downtown Revitalization Sidewalk Replacement Project. This project was made possible through a $500,000 fully funded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) and was part of the Disaster Recovery Funds that were made available to communities. The ceremony will kick-off construction of the new sidewalks, ramps, curbs and brick pavers along Main Street from East 1st Street to East 5th Street (Highway 57). The project improvements along with the soon to be completed Meredith Plaza will enhance the safety and quality of life for our local citizens and visitors for many years to come.
The Ground Breaking will take place on Monday, June 21st at 9:00 AM at the corner of S.E. 1st and Main Streets (Sherwin-Williams). The public is welcome to attend.
