New Pole Updates
The Electric department recently began surveying our infrastructure in our substations. Upon looking, we found one of our main circuit poles was in great need of replacing. We thought that posting some pictures would help you understand how dangerous it can be while doing so. When done safely and efficient we can accomplish anything though. These pictures show you how a pole is set, almost directly, on the side of another and without killing out all of the power in the substation. When we set poles like these we have to wear our protective gloves in case the pole gets into the live lines, which would energize the pole and line truck to 7200 volts.
We take great care of one another in the field, while working. We all have family to go home to and we want to keep going home to them! So sometimes it may seem like we aren’t working that fast and that is the reason why. Working safely is our # 1 goal! The same goes for after hours when on call. Sometimes a power outage can only take a couple of minutes and sometimes last a couple of hours. It depends on the situation. You can be assured we are watching out for everyone here and also the public when working.Thank you for your support!
